eMBALENHLE – Capt Magonseni Nkosi advises job seekers to not give money to people who promise them a job.

He said there is an increase in cases of fraud as people give money to others who promise them job.

A woman who wanted to remain anonymous, told the Ridge Times that the woman who conned her claimed to be working for a petrol company and promised her a job.

To get the job, she had to deposit R3 000 into her account.

“I was desperately in need of a job and deposited the money.

“Because of my current job, I could not stand in the long queues at the bank and we arranged that I deposit the money through Money Market.

“She received the money and said she would contact me the next day.”

According to the conned woman, the woman did not take her calls.

“I got money from loan sharks and now I am drowning in debt.

“I did not report the matter to police, because I am busy trying to get money to pay back the loan sharks.

“I tried to explain to them what had happened, but they did not understand, instead they threatened to take my ID and bank cards if I do not pay back their money.”
