Beware these scams

Send suspicious persons away.

This was posted on Facebook by Melanie Wallace van der Merwe on Wednesday, 8 October and is a warning to us all.

Warning to South Africa citizens, I just received this from a friend of mine:

Warning people I just survived a potential deadly crime situation. I was early for an appointment at Sunward Park Hospital.

I decided to park outside the hospital and sat in the car to buy some time.

While I was sitting, this young Zimbabwean boy came to me.

He asked if I could help him speak to his employer who was supposed to pick him up, but he is not showing up.

His problem was that he could not speak English and he needed to tell the employer that he was waiting there.

I did suspect some scam, but out of curiosity and the fact that he was no match to me physically, I decided to play along.

When I agreed to help him phone the employer, he told me that I could use his phone as he had airtime.

Again I became suspicious, but told him to dial the number and give me the phone.

The phone rang and somebody picked up.

I immediately picked up that the person was also Zimbabwean and immediately smelled some chemical coming from of his phone.

I realised I was losing consciousness and quickly threw out the phone and locked the car.

Fortunately I was quick and the drowsiness did not last long.

I opened the windows to get the chemical out of the car.

I got outside and saw him running away. I got in the car and chased him.

I managed to catch up with him, but I did not want to bump him with the car.

When I got out, he managed to run away through the cars in the main road.

I had to leave him since I had an appointment at the hospital.

I am now done at the hospital and I will drive around till I get him.

So be careful, I don’t know how wide spread this is, it is the first time I have encountered it.

It seems they are operating around the  Sunward Park area Ekurhuleni, but they can be scamming anywhere.

Send suspicious persons away… before you die for a car you have worked your ass off to pay.

Spread please as this could save a life!
