Altogether 74 runners with four first-timers participated on Saturday, 5 April.

Athletes at the weekly parkrun at the Standerton River Park are in for a real treat when jogging or walking to the sounds of 80s music or even earlier.

One volunteer shared his taste in music with a wide spectrum of ages and even Those Were The Days was heard and the finale at the finishing point, none other than The Final Countdown.

Amid cheering, the tailwalker followed the last two walkers who had their barcodes scanned for results to be communicated.

The weather last Saturday could have influenced some participants rather to have a lie-in, but the brave dutifully did their warm-up exercises.

Some were dressed in summer pajamas according to the theme, but Mother Nature had the last word.

Participants were cautioned about the wet and slippery parts and took it all in their stride. The course is regularly cleaned and the event, which is free of charge, has become a definite date for many.
