Flamingo beat Amasokolara by 4-3 in Lekwa Football League

The win leaves Flamingo FC sixth on the log and Amasokolara FC seventh, both on 23 points, with just the goal difference separating them.

Flamingo FC was victorious at a seven-goal-thriller when beating Amasokolara FC  4 – 3 at the Gert Sibande College’s soccer field on 3 February.

The rain-soaked field and cold breeze played no part in the players’ moods.

Both teams were evenly matched from the first whistle.

Flamingo was still finding their rhythm when Amasoklara scored the first goal to take the lead.

The match was dictated from the middle of the park with many chances going a begging from both teams.

Flamingo managed to scrape through some nice touches through the Amasokolara defense and equalised, to make it one a piece.

The match seemed as if it would go to the break on a draw, but Flamingo took the lead in the extra time of the first half.

Just two minutes into the second half, Amasokolara caught Flamingo’s defense napping and snatched an equaliser.

Both teams upped their tempo and scored in a space of four minutes to make it three a piece.

The blow-by-blow match had its fair share of tackles, but the referee spared the dreaded red card for both teams.

Wanting to put the game to bed, Flamingo laid siege on the Amasokolara goal, with only David Alpheus “Rasta” saving Amasokolara from conceding more goals.

Rasta made spectacular save after save.

Flamingo scored from a counter-attack in the 78th minute.

Chances seemed to come few and far between with both teams getting weary.

The win leaves Flamingo FC sixth on the log and Amasokolara FC seventh, both on 23 points, with just the goal difference separating them.
