Two vehicles recently collided on the N11 just after the traffic light at Pick n Pay in Ermelo.

Ms Precious Chauque, driver of the Ford bakkie, said, “I have a three-month-old baby that now lives with my mother because I am unable to hold her.”

She explained she returned from maternity leave and has been booked off by the doctor due to her injuries.

She cannot hold her baby and only gets to see her on weekends.

“I cannot bath on my own. I have to be helped.”

She now sits at home without any income and is unable to do most daily activities.

Allegations were made that one of the motorists made an illegal U-turn that caused the accident.

The other vehicle that was involved in the accident, was from a local company.

Mr Tebogo Mashego, manager of the company, said he had no comment as he was not in Ermelo when the accident happened.

He added he has not yet met with the driver of the company vehicle.

According to Mr Hannes Nagel, a paramedic from ER24, Ms Chauque fractured her arm and was transported by ER24 to Mediclinic Ermelo.

Ermelo Traffic Department, Ermelo Police, ER24 and Van Wettens Break Down Services were on the scene.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for Ermelo Police, a case of reckless and negligent driving was opened.
