SASSA identifies potential fraud cases

Sassa assured all beneficiaries that they will get their social grant for the month of July as all officials are ready to assist them.

Sassa beneficiaries from Ermelo and surrounding areas are given notice that Mr Senzeni Ngubeni, spokesman for Sassa Mpumalanga Region, said that Sassa has identified a total of 2 800 potential fraud cases nationwide.

The total 2 200 accounts are from different banks while 600 are from the South African Post Office (SAPO).

Sassa has advised banks and the SAPO to stop payment to these accounts.

It was confirmed that these accounts will not be able to transact as from 1 July.

Beneficiaries who are unable to get their grants due to any reasons are advised to:

  • Record an affidavit at the nearest police station.
  • Be the lawful ID holder.
  • Take a bar coded or smart card ID together with the completed affidavit to the nearest Sassa Office.
  • Take along proof of banking details.
