EXCLUSIVE ONLINE: Ermelo Police warns secondhand shop owners

W/O Fourie added that all scrap yard owners, as well as towing services that buy engine blocks and car wrecks, should be in possession of registration papers before such items can be bought or sold.

Ermelo Police urged all second hand shop owners to ensure that their businesses are registered.

According to W/O Hendrik Fourie, all traders who are not registered, can be fined up to R2 500 or receive a jail sentence if found guilty.

He also appealed to all residents to report copper theft, as well as traders who are suspected of not being registered.

W/O Fourie added that all scrap yard owners, as well as towing services that buy engine blocks and car wrecks, should be in possession of registration papers before such items can be bought or sold.

“No person under the age of 18 are allowed to sell second hand items and anyone selling these items, must have proof of identification with them.”

These traders should have a copy of the sellers’ ID, with an address and telephone number.

Registration can be done by W/O Hendrik Fourie at Ermelo Police Station.
