Local Mr Mpumalanga finalist, Xolani Khumalo, goes on school tour

Mr X visited Wesselton Primary, giving a motivational talk to learners at the school and handing over a dignitary pack to one deserving learner. He also visited Qambekile Primary School and completed the school tour at Lindile Secondary School.

Local Mr Mpumalanga finalist, Mr Xolani Khumalo, went on a school and media tour this past week from 21 to 25 January as part of his outreach community programme.

Mr Khumalo is one of 12 models vying for the crown and title of Mr Mpumalanga, with the glitzy finale set to take place in Mbombela, in March.

After a rigorous voting process, Mr Khumalo was chosen as a finalist and will represent Ermelo and Gert Sibande district at the pageant.

As previously reported in the Highvelder, 7 December, Xolani Khumalo a Mr Mpumalanga semi-finalist, the beauty pageant is a platform and tool to inspire men to be the best they can be by moulding them into role models and ambassadors.

Mr X, as he is affectionately known in media circles around Msukaligwa, is a 1.68-meter model and is not just a pretty face with good genes, but has the brains to back it up, having studied Marketing at Gert Sibande Tvet College.

The model was a journalist and is currently a sports presenter at a local radio station.

Born in Carolina and raised in Amersfoort, Mr X moved to Ermelo to pursue his higher education at GS TVET College.

He got his lean physique working on a farm near his hometown and he proudly stated he does not follow any exercise regime.

The disc jockey decided to pursue modelling after many people told him to go for it because of his stature and good looks.

Mr X needed the help of the community of Ermelo and surrounding areas to garner enough votes to qualify for the grand finale and he did that and more, leading the voting pack with his vast support base.

Part of the build-up to the final event is a community outreach tour, which has seen him visit various places giving back to the community.

“I am focusing especially on boy children as they are often neglected and all the focus is on the girl child,” Mr X said.

The tour began in his hometown of Amersfoort in December, where he handed over soccer kits and balls to a soccer development site.

The towering model also visited local and neighbouring radio stations, with his main focus being the upliftment of the boy child.

Mr X will embark on the last leg of his journey to the Mr Mpumalanga finale and the community of Ermelo can show support by voting for him on the Mr Mpumalanga Facebook page.
