Wakkerstroom wins ‘Dorp van die Jaar’
Wakkerstroom makes for a perfect destination being about three hours from Johannesburg/Pretoria.
Participating in the “Dorp van die Jaar” competition, Wakkerstroom has recently pipped much bigger towns such as Secunda and Barberton in the semi-finals to become the winning “dorp” for Mpumalanga.
Altogether eight towns take part in KykNET’s Kwêla programme in the national competition.
Readers are encouraged to vote for their favourite “dorp” when the national title will be awarded.
Through the years, Wakkerstroom has become known as the Jewel of Mpumalanga and would be a worthy winner.

The final voting in the competition will take place from 27 May until midday 1 June.
The winner will be announced on 17 June.
