Angry protesters converge at Tutuka Power Station

Two main gates were closed, using cars and buses, no one was permitted to and from the entrances.

Angry protesters, comprising local businessmen and -women, converged at Tutuka Power Station from early 8 February.

They accuse the parastatal’s top management of alleged lying and deceit.

Two main gates were closed by using cars and buses and no one was permitted to and from the entrances.

According to Mr Patrick Nkosi, Acting General Manager, only employees who were on night shift duty, were still in the plant.

Employees who reported for duty were denied access.

Police from Secunda were called in to monitor the situation.
