Cries of ‘no bail’ resound as uncle that allegedly raped 10-year-old niece appears in court

According to Mr Charles Msibi of the Sakhile CPF, he received a tip-off from a community member about the incident.

A crowd picketed in front of the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on 24 October to oppose bail for a man who allegedly raped his 10-year-old niece.

According to a family member attending the proceedings, the child’s mother became suspicious when she did the laundry and came upon the child’s underwear.

The girl was immediately taken to a doctor and subsequently to the Standerton Hospital.

According to Mr Charles Msibi of the Sakhile CPF, he received a tip-off from a community member about the incident.

Mr Msibi went to the house and found community members standing outside the home, looking for the man.

The Standerton Police arrived and the child was taken to a separate room for questioning.

Mr Msibi left and went to the uncle’s work place and after finding him, the CPF took him to the house.

The man was arrested on 17 October and his first court appearance was on 24 October.

“No bail, no bail,” was chanted repeatedly by the upset crowd.
