An intruder died in a house he apparently broke into in Robert Street, Meyerville this morning, 12 October.

The man is believed to be in his 20s and died after an altercation with the home owner’s father.

The father apparently stayed over for the night, because the house was burgled the previous day and the owner felt unsafe.

According to the homeowner, this is the fourth time in about a week that the house was targeted.

“The window putty is still wet from the window being replaced after the previous housebreaking,” the homeowner said.

The cause of the man’s death is still unconfirmed and a post mortem will be conducted.

The Standerton Police opened an inquest.
