Residents of Ermelo were left fuming after electricity machines went offline at various electricity outlets for two days last week.
Machines went offline last Wednesday and Thursday leaving residents at a loss on where to buy electricity.
Msukaligwa municipal spokesman, Mr Mandla Zwane, confirmed the technical problem, saying the municipality would like to extend an unconditional and heartfelt apology to the community for the inconvenience with prepaid electricity at third party vendors.
“The municipal server has been overheating due to the malfunctioning of the fan/ cooler hence the shutdown on sales of prepaid electricity. Our technician worked around the clock to resuscitate the server. However, on third party vendors the problem persisted but we trust that by the end of the week everything will be back to normal. Once more our apology,” he said.
