Whip reaches out to sick children

Cllr Trevor Nkosi said their duty as politicians was also to come up with innovative ways and means to assist and give back to the community.

The Chief Whip of Gert Sibande District Municipality, Mr Trevor Nkosi, recently donated stimulation and rehabilitation toys, colouring books and goody-packs to the paediatric ward in Ermelo Regional Hospital.

This was part of his annual birthday celebrations when he uses the day to reach out to the needy and less fortunate.

During his short address before handing over the toys, Mr Nkosi said their duty as politicians was also to come up with innovative ways and means to assist and give back to the community.

“As a parent myself, I know the challenges that this ward is faced with daily and among these children are our future leaders and important people in society who must receive the best care,” he said.

Accepting the gifts on behalf of the hospital, Sr T.J Magudulela said the toys would go a long way in assisting the children with specific needs and that the educational toys really help stimulate the young one’s minds.

Head of Paediatrics, Dr Del Cuerto, echoed Sr Magudulela’s words, adding that such donations go a long way, not only just in paediatrics, but in the whole hospital.
