Black smoke fills the air

An old oil tank that has not been used for about 10 years went up in flames at Izamix earlier today.

According to Mr Jabulani Mkhwanazi of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management, Izamix sold the tank to a scrap yard.

“They apparently cut it with a cutting torch and the rubber inside caught fire,” Mr Mkhwanazi said.

He also said they went to investigate when seeing smoke coming from the area.

The firefighters extinguished the fire and no one was injured.
