Government departments’ employees protest about electricity concerns

The employees said they are tired of working under such conditions and the temperature in the building is cold as well.

BREAKING NEWS: Social workers, health care workers, Department of Agriculture and South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) employees are currently protesting outside the Jerrie van Vuuren building.

According to them, the building has been without electricity since March this year.

They claimed that they have made inquiries and were told that there is a problem with the transformer.

The workers said the Lekwa Municipality refused to fix the transformer, saying it belongs to the Department of Public Works.

According to them, Public Works first denied it and said it belongs to the municipality, but later admitted ownership stating that there is a generator which gets switched on late.

The employees said they are tired of working under such conditions and the temperature in the building is cold as well.
