Nozipho does well at national competitions
Nosipho Sibiya represented the Mpumalanga Province and her school at the South African National Schools Eisteddfod Music Competition.
eMZINONI – Against all odds Nosipho Sibiya (17), choral music soloist, has obtained second position with more than 80 per cent at the South African National Schools Eisteddfod Music Competition.
She is a Grade 12 pupil from iKhethelo Secondary School.
Although she had many challenges in preparing for the competition Nozipho used them as a motivation to win.
Her greatest motivation was to win a bursary if she gets first place.
“Though I did not achieved first place, I am still a winner and proud of myself.
“I thank God for giving me such an opportunity and thanks to the community who supported me, especially Ms Sibongile Mavimbela, the school principal Mr N Mabala and Mr Zweli Mdakane for their phenomenal support.
“I am so excited as this is a once in a life time achievement.”
Nosipho wants to establish her own choir in the Bethal area and wants to study music and teaching.
Ms Sibongile Mavimbela, conductor, said: “We are proud of Nosipho as a school.
“She did not only make us proud, but the Mpumalanga Province and the Govan Mbeki Municipality as well.
“She deserves it, because she is a dedicated and focused girl.
“We wish her all the best in life.”
Nozipho won various prizes such as a trophy, cash price to fund her studies, bags and a Melodica.
