Municipality organises prayer meeting

The gathering was aimed at praying for a successful examination period.

The Lekwa Municipality organised a prayer meeting for all the Grade 12 pupils from various schools at the Sakhile Hall on 15 October.

They invited other partner organisations including the Department of Education, Gert Sibande College and Pastors Fraternity.

The gathering was aimed at praying for a successful examination period.

Grade 12 pupils from Azalea Combined School, Khula-Sakhile Secondary School, Jandrell Secondary School, Thuto-Thebe Secondary School and Khunjuliwe Secondary School attended.

The pupils were encouraged to work hard and strive for success.

Ms Harriet Khota, speaker of the council, urged the pupils to focus on their school work and if they at first do not succeed, to keep on trying.

She said they should aim to top last year’s matric pass rate.

Jabulani Sibande, pupil of Khula-Sakhile, spoke on behalf of Cosas and shared his story with his fellow pupils.

He said he failed Grade 12 in 2010 and later decided to go back to school.

To his surprise he was told that he will have to go back to Grade 11, but that did not discourage him.

“I went back to school and made sure that I do my best,” he also said.

According to him he decided to go back to school after realising that you can not get a job without matric nowadays.

The young man requested his fellow pupils to make wise decisions that will not have a negative impact on their future.

“You can be anything you want to be as long as you are willing to work hard and keep your eyes on the prize.”
