Police officers condemn killing

More than 50 police officers were killed, while on duty, since the beginning of the year.

The local police have spoken out about the recent police killings.

More than 50 police officers were killed, while on duty, in different provinces nationwide since the beginning of the year.

The Sakhile Police have condemned it saying the criminals must be brought to book.

“We are not the enemies, our duty is to ensure the community is safe,” Sgt George Dhlamini, communications officer of the Sakhile Police, said.

He also said it was sad that many of their colleagues die while serving the people.

Sgt Dhlamini requested the community to take a stand against the killing of police officers.

Lt Fanie Nhlabathi, communications officer of the Standerton Police, also raised concerns about this matter. He said they get calls from the community claiming to be in need of assistance and respond to it with the aim of helping.

“It is unfair that police officers get shot, when they wanted to ensure that the public is safe,” Lt Nhlabathi also said.

He urged his fellow police officers not to leave the station without any back-up.

Lt Nhlabathi requested the community to work with the police, not against them.
