Man (25) drowns in waste water treatment dam
The incident occurred at Goldi’s new waste water treatment dams in Standerton.
Sibusiso Mbele (25) drowned on 6 August.
The incident occurred at Goldi’s new waste water treatment dams in Standerton.
Astral Foods Limited (Astral), a poultry producer, manages the Goldi operation in Mpumalanga.
Mr Eugene Viljoen, chief operating officer, received notification at 4pm on 7 August of an alleged drowning after a team was sent in earlier the morning to continue maintenance and cleaning work at the dams.
Messrs Danie Ras, risk manager, and Viljoen contacted the Standerton Emergency Services and a full investigation was launched.
