Stolen truck recovered

The suspect is receiving medical care in Mbombela Hospital and is under police guard.

Chrissiesmeer Police reacted to a tip-off from a tracking company and recovered a tipper truck that was reported stolen in Pretoria last week.

The police followed the truck driving on the N17 near Chrissiesmeer and instructed the driver to stop. He ignored the instructions and later stopped near Holnek Farm where he shot at the police.

They returned fire, hitting him in the right shoulder.

His passenger fled the scene and is still at large.

The suspect is receiving medical care in Mbombela Hospital and is under police guard.

He appeared in absentia in the Chrissiemeer Periodical Court where his case was postponed to 3 December for bail application.
