Mayor wants her own ‘Nkandla’

The opposition parties are against the mayoral guesthouse that the mayor recommended during the last council meeting.

Ms Caroline Morajane, mayor of Lekwa Municipality, allegedly wants a mayoral guesthouse.

This subject was up for discussion during a recent council meeting.

The municipality wants to sell all the houses belonging to them that are currently occupied by municipal employees.

According to the opposition parties the mayor made recommendations that two houses should not be sold.

One house will be turned into a mayoral guesthouse and the other house will be converted into office space for the municipality.

Another house was also said to be built in the same yard as the guesthouse for Mr Linda Dhlamini, speaker of the council.

Mr Dlhlamini however denied that there would be a house built for him in the same yard as the guesthouse.

Disgruntled opposition parties voiced their discontent with this decision.
