Yet another truck stuck under railway bridge

Yet another truck driver misjudged the height of the bridge leading to the industrial area on 23 September.

The Standerton Ibis reported on 19 September about a crane that had to be used to lift cargo when a truck driver drove into the bridge.

“I was on my way to Vryheid from Johannesburg to deliver beer.

“It is my first time through Standerton and did not know that I had to turn off before the bridge,” the driver said.

The driver directed traffic while he waited for the traffic officers to arrive.

“I thought the truck would fit, but with the incline at the other side, the truck got stuck,” he said.

Some bottles of beer were damaged on impact.
