Mr Xolani Motshoeneng, known as “Jiga”, is a multi- talented young person who uses his talent to make a living.

Jiga is a musician, basketball player and painter.

He grew up in Sakhile, Loc Section, and matriculated at Jandrell Secondary School in 2002.

Jiga’s passion for the arts began while he was still in school.

“Technical Drawing in school made me realise that I had a talent and can use it,” he said

After matric Jiga decided to take art seriously, because he saw a gap in the market.

“I wanted to show young people that you can make a living in something you love.”

He said that there is not much support from the municipality in developing art.

“In other towns, the local municipalities are investing in art and support local artists.”

Jiga has done many artworks in town and Sakhile.

He recently did window-painting for Africa Paints, a shop in town.

He has done sign-painting for political parties as part of their election campaigns.

His future plans are to mentor young people, interested in art.

“I want children to realise what they should do not to be taken for granted.

“Also to motivate them not to give up on their dreams of becoming artists one day, even though it is not easy.”

He plans to have exhibitions where he can bring art lovers together.
