Communal tap, not a car wash

According to residents, the bus driver washes the buses in the area on weekends and some private individual also bring their vehicles for a wash. The residents complained they are wasting water.

The community of Mahala Park are unhappy about a bus driver who uses a communal tap to wash the vehicles.

The tap caters for residents in an informal settlement. According to them, the driver washes the buses on weekends and some private individuals also bring their vehicles for a wash.

“These people waste water.”

“Water floods the street and children play in these pools,” a resident said.

“I do not understand why they don’t wash the buses where they park them,” another local said.

The bus owner, Mr Mduduzi Mtshali, was unaware of the situation.

“I thought they wash the buses at the depot,” he said.

He said he would call a meeting with the drivers and address the matter to ensure it does not happen again.
