Woman arrested on fraud charges

The groceries she sold did not exist.

A 41-year-old woman, Sairabanu Michelle Ismail, was arrested in Ermelo on Thursday last week on 12 counts of suspected fraud and theft.

She appeared in court in Ermelo on Friday last week and the case was postponed to Tuesday this week for a bail application.

The outcome of the application was not known at the time of going to press.

Ismail is suspected of enticing people into placing orders for low-priced groceries from her. The groceries she sold did not exist. She then allegedly used the money for personal gain.

Police are requesting anyone who has fallen prey to this scam to contact Det W/0 Paul Koen at 083 384 5485.
