Sasol ends second in T20 Premier match

Sasol kept on fighting and Nelspruit required one run off the final ball of the match.

HIGHVELD – Sasol Secunda Cricket Club’s first team lost the T20 Premier League finals to Nelspruit by two wickets.

Sasol 1 traveled to Nelspruit on Sunday, 27 October to play in the Mpumalanga T20 final.

Sasol lost the toss and was send in first to bat.

The team was in trouble early on when they lost five wickets for only 28 runs.

Sasol however, did manage to score a competitive score of 119/9 in 20 overs.

Xolani Buthelezi scored a quick fire 31 runs off 10 balls and Dewald Erasmus kept the innings together with a well worked 38 runs off 31 balls.

Sasol kept on fighting and Nelspruit required one run off the final ball of the match. Ignus Koekemoer took two wickets for 12 runs in his four overs. According to him, it was truly a nail biter and a fantastic game to be part of.

Sasol 1 will make their season debut in the Gert Sibande Premier 50 Overs league this weekend when they will face Standerton on 2 November.

The 50 overs-match in Piet Retief between Sasol 2 and Piet Retief scheduled for Saturday, 26 October, was abandoned due to rain.
