eMba locals unite to fight crime in area

Residents have formed an organisation to fight crime in eMbalenhle.

eMBALENHLE – Locals have mobilised to fight crime-related issues in the area.

They have established a non-profit organisation named Individual Brilliance Organisation.

The organisation has been engaging with various stakeholders, including the police, social development, traffic department and the department of education.

This was aimed at introducing themselves to the stakeholders and to clarify their role in society.

Mr Khwezi Mthembu, founder, said they have noticed a gap between residents and government institutions and they will bridge that gap in order for locals to receive adequate services.

He said his organisation will prioritise crime-related issues as they have seen a high increase of crime in the area.

Mr Mthembu added that residents have lost confidence in the police due to pending cases that were allegedly never attended.

“We want to ensure that crime is dealt with in our area and ensure that the police are held accountable.

“We respect the community policing forum (CPF), however, we are an independent organisation will have more impact.

“We want to contribute to dealing with prevalent crimes such as rape, murder and burglaries.

“Individual Brilliance Organisation will be doing patrols in the various areas which have been marked as high crime zones.”

Mr Mthembu said they currently have 41 members and people who are interested are still welcome to join.

He said those who want to join, must not have a criminal record and must have police clearance.

There is no age limit.

He the organisation is not affiliated with any political party.

Individual Brilliance Organisation is a sociocentric, community-based organisation.

Those who are interested to join, can contact the leadership at 065 550 9243, 072 932 7822 or 076 141 8793.
