Locals apprehend house breaking suspect in Bethal

Both suspects will appear at Bethal Magistrate’s Court facing charges of house-breaking and theft

eMZINONI – Police recently arrested two men for burglary and theft.

In the first incident the police received information from a security company that there was a possible burglary in the area.

Dect Xolani Khuzwayo, police officer, responded swiftly and when he arrived on scene, he found the suspect in the house in Du Plooy Street.

It is alleged that the suspect gained entry by forcing open a window.

In another incident, a 34-year-old man was arrested for burglary and theft that happened in Simon Street.

It is alleged that the suspect gained access to the house through the window and stole a laptop.

Police said someone saw him and called for help.

The neighbours chased the suspect and managed to apprehend him.

They then phoned the police and handed the suspect over, along with the recovered laptop.

Both suspects will appear in Bethal Magistrate’s Court facing charges of house-breaking and theft.
