Kinross police confiscate alcohol from shebeens posing with tuckshop front

A total of 64 cases of alcohol were confiscated during the operation and fines were issued to the tuckshop/shebeen operators.

KINROSS – The Kinross Police recently organised an operation that led to the closing of five shebeens in Extension 25 that were operating as tuckshops.

The operation materialised after the police saw an increase in liquor-related crimes in the area.

A total of 64 cases of alcohol were confiscated during the operation and fines were issued to the tuckshop/shebeen operators.

Capt David Mariri, acting station commander said: “I urge the community to refrain from dropping charges after they are reported. Let justice take its course and do not misuse police resources.”

Assaults in the area have also seen an increase, with seven perpetrators recently arrested by the police.

Drug-related arrests included six dealers who were caught with Nyoape.
