EVANDER – A member of the Rural Farm Safety Group, Jelani Security and SSG Mine Security, caught several men in possession of possible stolen metal pipes at the T-junction at Leeuwpan on the R50, this morning, 13 March.
They found the suspects at an accident scene during which a truck with a cargo of scrap metal overturned at the T-junction. A second truck with scrap metal was also on the scene.
The security officers identified some of the men as thieves they had caught before stealing from the closed down Evander 5 Shaft.
The latest loot appears to have been stolen from 9 Shaft.
Five men were arrested and taken to the Evander Police Station.
The impounded vehicles are also at the police station.
Car Doctor helped to remove the damaged vehicle.
