Man arrested for drugs to the value of R28 000 in Bethal

Sgt Themba Sihlali and Const Treasure Mbonani were conducting their daily route and received a tip-off from two community members alleging that the suspect approached them with an offer of drugs at a cheaper price.

BETHAL – A Nigerian man was arrested for the possession of drugs (rock) to the value of R28 000.

This came after Sgt Themba Sihlali and Const Treasure Mbonani were conducting their daily route and received a tip-off from two community members alleging that the suspect approached them with an offer of drugs at a cheaper price.

The two officers responded swiftly and caught the suspect walking in the street.

They stopped the suspect and requested to search him.

Upon the search, the police found two small plastic bags. The suspect was interrogated and he confessed that the bags contained drugs known as rock.

He was arrested and taken to Bethal Police Station and will appear at the Bethal Magistrate’s Court soon.

Capt Samson Khumalo, visible policing commander, commended the officers for their hard work and swift response to the information supplied that led to the arrest of the suspect.

He thanked the community for working with the police by reporting illegal activities.
