SAFETY TIPS: Be cautious this #BlackFriday

Police member give safety tips

The Police Provincial Commissioner, Lt-Gen. Mondli Zuma, warned residents to be vigilant tomorrow on Black Friday.

He advised residents not to take handbags when going shopping, not to take cash and rather pay with a card, leave their cell phones at home and to be careful when using an ATM.

The police said fraud is rife on Black Friday and that residents must be aware of criminals also being in town on this day.

Lt-Gen. Zuma said shoppers are not the only ones excited about the sales, but opportunistic criminals are also looking to grab money and other valuables from patrons during the rush.

“Shoppers must be on the look out for individuals that may be following then from one point to the next,” said Lt- Gen. Zuma.
