eMBALENHLE – Police held a roadshow as part of the social crime prevention campaign on Thursday, 7 June in various extensions.

It was aimed at warning residents about crime and the consequences.

Capt Busi Mthethwa, the police spokesman, said the police wanted to educate the community especially about common crimes.

She said there is a high rate of rape, assaults and property crime in the area.

“We wanted to reach out to the community and to come up with solutions on how we can work together to combat crime.

“We believe that a strong relationship between the police and the community can help to reduce crime.”

Residents were given a platform to voice their concerns over crime and the police force.

Most residents complained over the shortages of police vehicles and the bad attitude of some police officials.
