One killed and another critically injured after head-on collision outside Evander

A woman was killed and a man critically injured after a head-on collision between two bakkies on the Shondoni road outside Evander.
The accident happened at approximately 11pm on 3 April.
ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene to find one bakkie stationed in the middle of the road while a second bakkie was found some distance away and was lying on its roof.
Paramedics discovered a woman lying trapped inside the overturned bakkie. She was declared dead on the scene.
A man was trapped inside the second bakkie. He was in a critical condition.
Various specialised rescue tools were used to free him. He was then treated and provided with advanced life support interventions, before he was transported by another service to Evander Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
