Power cuts will continue until Govan Mbeki Municipality pays Eskom R50 million

According to Ms Marietjie Fourie, DA councillor of Ward 28 in Bethal, residents will continue to experience electricity cuts until council pays R50 million.

“It is confirmed that Eskom will continue with electricity throttling until the R50-m required is paid. Prepare for no electricity at the following times until further notice,” said Ms Marietjie Fourie, DA councillor.

The times of the electricity cuts:

Weekdays:
6am – 8am
5pm – 7.30pm

Weekends:
8.30am – 11am
3pm – 5.30pm

Ms Fourie said people should switch off all their appliances before the power is switched off.

“Switch appliances on after the power has been restored and is stable.

“Please do so as it will save your appliances from damage.

“Residents who use breathing machines, will have to get sources of energy for the period of throttling.”
