Const Mogadime receives national award

Const Thomas Mogadime believes he was called to serve and protect.

BETHAL – Const Thomas Mogadime became the second runner-up in the Man of the Year category representing Mpumalanga at the SAPS National Excellence Awards Sun City last year.

He won R10 000 from the SAPS and a Trojan Strider 130 Body Trainer from Tracker.

Const Mogadime is a communication and social crime prevention officer at Bethal Police Station and is known for his hard work and dedication to his work in the community.

He is involved in the coordination of community policing strategies and develops, implement and monitors crime awareness campaigns.

Some of the campaigns include Embrace Yourself where he mentors the youth by involving them in activities, such as modelling to help them build their self confidence and self appreciation.

Const Mogadime is also busy with the Embrace Education Campaign where he gathers the youth and involves them in unprepared public reading and speaking.

As part of the Anti Gender Based Violence Campaign, Const Mogadime conducted various campaigns at schools, clinics and community forums in conjunction with other stakeholders.

He thanked the management of SAPS Mpumalanga for trusting and believing in him and sending him to represent the province at the fourthh National Excellence Awards.

“I would like to thank Almighty God for the gift of life and for protection and strengthening me to perform my daily duties with dignity.

“Furthermore, I would like to thank my former station commander, Lt Col Johnson Mtungwa, for the support he gave me from the first day I have set my feet in Bethal,

“I also thank my parents, my family, friends, mentors, colleagues, Bethal Local Drug Action Committee, as well as the community of Bethal and eMzinoni for the support and words of encouragement.

“They always give me strength and make me keep an eye on the ball whenever I feel like giving up.”

Const Mogadime believes that to serve and protect, is a calling in life.

“To be a member of the South African Police Service is a privilege afforded to those who have responded to that calling and who will carry the reputation of this organisation high at all times, both on and off duty.”
