Town was abuzz with excitement

Read more about why you should not judge the McLaren Circus.

SECUNDA – The McLaren Circus came to town last week and Secunda was abuzz with excitement.

Mr David McLaren, owner, always loved the circus and began his own one at the age of 21 which is now the well known McLaren Circus.

He helped with pitching tents, sweeping floors and also ticket sales.

Lately you will find him in the ring with his lions, tigers, camels, horses, ponies and poodles.

Mr McLaren also has a farm where he takes care of his retired animals.

Many people are quick to criticize this circus.

“Firstly an animal is an animal.

“Equal respect needs to be given when dealing with all our animals.

“Secondly, our techniques of training our animals are based on a reward system and not abuse.

“The exact same way you would train your dog at home or a horse at an equestrian club.

“There is a special bond between our animals and trainers.

“We showcase the talent of both the animals and trainers when presenting them to the public.

“Our animals are always in the eye of the public.

“We are also inspected very regularly by local SPCAs.

“We never reject their request to do an inspection.

“They arrive without appointment and we ensure they get attended to when they arrive.

“Our animals are born in captivity and they are hand raised,” Mr McLaren explained.

The McLaren Circus will also be in Bethal during the week.
