Drug syndicate in court

Secunda Hawks is looking for two suspects who are still at arge.

SECUNDA – Six alleged drug syndicate members appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 19 August.

They were arrested by the Mpumalanga Hawks during the Project 24 Operation.

According to the Hawks, the investigation into the syndicate has been going on for more than a year during which they gathered enough evidence against the notorious drug dealers.

During the investigation, the Hawks found enough strong evidence that will stand up in court against the members of the syndicate and that they traded in drugs in the area.

The suspects were “kingpins” who distributed drugs in the area.

“During the operation, five vehicles, 13 cell phones, one electronic pocket scale to weigh drugs and a lot of cash used in the commission of their alleged crimes, were also seized by members of the Hawks,” said Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, provincial spokesman for the Hawks.

Maj Gen Zodwa Mokoena, Mpumalanga DPCI provincial head, appreciated the work done by the team involved in the operation.

She thanked the K9 Dog Unit, the tracing team, crime intelligence gathering, the tracking team unit, and Home Affairs.

The suspects, including a South African and Nigerians, namely Messrs Bongani Wiseman Shongwe (26), Chibuzar Paul Ezekware (24), Godwin Udalo Abunne (30), Ukandu Henry Ukaehbu (32) and the brothers Messrs Samuel (34) and Junior Anieobi Okafor (24) will re-appear in court on 1 September for bail application.

They remain in custody.

The Secunda Hawks is still looking for two suspects.

They are Messrs Chukwuemaka (Alex) Kingsley Ezenwa and Emanuel (50c) Onyekanna.
