Family loses everything in fire

“On my arrival, I found that everything was burnt to ashes.”

CHARL CILLIERS – A fire left a family of five without a place to stay on 8 August.

Mr Sylvester Dliwayo said he lost everything, including his identity documents and bank cards.

His children, aged 5, 8 and 13, also lost their school uniforms and books in the fire.

“Fortunately the children visited me and yesterday persuaded me to allow them to return to their parents,” said the grandmother.

The grandmother said she does not know what would have happened to her grandchildren if she had allowed them to go back because the fire began at 6am.

Mr Dliwayo said immediately when he arrived at work, he received a phone call requesting him to return home because the shack was burning.

“On my arrival, I found that everything burned to ash,” said Mr Dliwayo.

The cause of the fire is not known.

His wife was also at work and could not go home immediately.

Ms Khumbi Mdlalose, a member of the Charl Cilliers Community Policing Forum, said any type of donation is welcome and people can send them to the Charl Cilliers Police Station.
