Young people learn new skills in Cullinan

Department of Infrastructure helping the youth of Cullinan.

The youth of Cullinan learned something new. About 20 young people, mostly women, learnt how to tile floors and paint during a five-day training session.

After completion, they received a certificate to show they had completed the skills training. The trainees also received a stipend of R150 a day, which they received when they completed their training.

They did the training to benefit the community and create new work possibilities for the youth.

“These are skills that will benefit the community even after the completion of the training,” said Yoliswa Ntshanga from the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development.

“We also try focusing on helping those struggling to do theoretical work, learning how to work with their hands.”

Ward 100 Clr Johannes Bekker said this was the first of many skills development campaigns in Ward 100.

“We encourage youth and stakeholders to take part in any form of skill development to build a strong foundation for the future generation.”
