55 participants decide on the 5km parkrun in Standerton

Milestones were also reached, with the Daya family of father Nitin, mother Sangeeta and son, Parth entering their 100th event and daughter Jyoti, competing in her 50th event. Francois Streicher also competed in his 100th event.

There was no stopping the 55 participants at the parkrun on July 1 at 08:00 when they took on the 5km at the Standerton River Park.

Altogether six new faces were seen and seven athletes improved their times. This is a free event, offering walkers, joggers or runners the opportunity to compete against themselves.

Milestones were reached, with the Daya family of father Nitin, mother Sangeeta and son, Parth entering their 100th event and daughter Jyoti, competing in her 50th event.

Francois Streicher also competed in his 100th event. The parkrun attracted a visitor from Harties, Jimmy Wilson as well.

Tshiamo Lephoto reached the finish line in a time of 17:23, followed by a first-timer, Mohammed Mussa who clocked in at 21:55.

Ebrahim Mussa, a first-timer as well, recorded a time of 21:58, while Bongane Mpokane ran a time of 23:21.

Omran Marzugi was in at 23:38, followed by Theo Schönfeldt in 25:56 and Daleney Grobbelaar in 26:30, a new personal best.

Parth Jayram ended the distance in 28:01, Pieter Grobbelaar in 28:57, Johann Vosloo in 31:14 in his 50th event and Petra Fischer, also in her 50th event, in 32:57.

The parkrun is made possible by volunteers deployed at different spots to ensure a safe and smooth event.

Charl van Wyk, Frans Vermaak, Ishara Pillay, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Kay Pillay, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Leandri van Wyk, Lydia Roets, Priscilla Ramdharee, Renette de Sousa, Ronnie Moodley, Ruwan Vermaak, Vanita Moodley and Zeldine Strydom were present.
