They usually present a fraudulent warrant of arrest, stating charges such as fraud, maladministration, nepotism and theft.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation warned the community about bogus Hawks officers, claiming to be middle managers at the rank of colonel, attached to the head office of the directorate.

According to a statement of the Hawks, dated May 4, the suspects are targeting civil servants from different government departments, providing them with fraudulent documents alleging that a warrant of arrest has been issued against them.

They demand to meet with them regarding the ongoing investigation and demand money as gratification to ensure that the non-existent cases are withdrawn.
