Police arrest suspect after shooting incident in Ext 6, Standerton

Standerton Detectives, with Gauteng PHO, waited for the suspect at the toll gate and arrested him at 19:30.

Standerton SAPS sent information on April 23 about the successful arrest of Njabulo Simon Zimba, a murder suspect in Gauteng.

According to the police, it followed good intelligence information. Case 86/03/2023 was opened after an incident in Ext 6 on March 12.

A community member reported a shooting incident at Standerton Police Station.

Police found a woman, aged between 20 and 25 years, lying on the street showing no signs of life.


Police are warning the community about a social media scam


Emergency services arrived on the scene and declared her dead.

Through investigation it was discovered the woman and her boyfriend had a quarrel when the boyfriend arrived with another girl, finding the deceased in his bed.

Police indicated that the suspect was located in hiding in Gauteng, through the assistance of SAPS Gauteng provincial head office and informers.

Information was received on April 22 that the suspect was going to depart from Gauteng and will be passing through Heidelberg De Hoek Plaza.

Standerton detectives, with Gauteng PHO, waited for the suspect at the toll gate and arrested him at 19:30.

He was in possession of an unlicensed firearm. It was also discovered that the vehicle in which he travelled, was reported stolen at Johannesburg Central CAS.

Zimba will make his first court appearance in Heidelberg and will be collected and charged with murder and possession of a stolen vehicle.
