Sasol capacitates local NPOs in Bronkhorstspruit area

The programme promotes social development, managerial effectiveness and good governance in the non-profitable sector.

Sasol hosted a certification ceremony to recognise 17 Ekandustria NPOs that completed a capacity-building incubation programme.

The Sasol NPO Incubation Programme promotes social development by enhancing managerial effectiveness, service delivery and good governance in the NPO sector.

In the long run, it should enable the organisations’ leadership and management to operate as effective and sustainable entities.

“Over the years, Sasol has worked on building relationships to uplift communities close to its operations.

“These relationships enabled us to partner with various community structures and organisations to drive interventions like the NPO Incubation Programme to benefit our fenceline communities,” said Thuli Mbuli, the head of community affairs at Sasol’s Sasolburg and Ekandustria operations.

Studies by the Centre for Civil Society have shown that only 2% of welfare organisations are successful in the longer term.

The Sasol NPO Incubator Programme endeavours to remedy this because the participating NPOs now have the means to meet all the requirements to be sustainable and receive funding from donors such as large businesses and corporates.
