Police clamp down on suspected drug dealers in Secunda

The Provincial Head of the Hawks Major General Gerber is appealing to the community of Mpumalanga to join the dedicated members of the Hawks based Secunda Serious Organised Crime who are working tirelessly to eradicate drugs in Gert Sibande District by providing information on drug dealers and premises.

 

The call came after another intelligence-driven disruptive operation was conducted by the Hawks  together with Secunda CIG and Secunda K9  on Thursday, March 9.

 

Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesperson for the Hawks in Mpumalanga, said in a press statement that information about drug trafficking and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was followed up at 9 Kuschke Street in Secunda.

 

A search and seizure operation was  executed.

 

“During the search, two suspects aged 32 and 62,  were  found in possession of drugs and unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”

 

According to Sekgotodi, 877 packets of heroin, a 38 special revolver, 2 cellphones, 35 socks ( in which the drugs were hidden ) and R 2 440 were seized for further investigation.

 

The street value is about R 60 000.

 

The suspects to appeared at the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Friday, March 10 and the investigation continues.
