eMbalenhle police find woman’s body in room with bloodied curtains

When the police checked inside the shack, they noticed blood on the curtains.

The bloodied body of a woman was found in her shack in the Azania informal settlement in Ext 22, eMbalenhle, on February 26.

Constable Busi Mthethwa, the eMbalenhle police spokesperson, said the woman had bruises on her thighs and buttocks and blood flowed from her ears.

The police found a broken broomstick next to the body. They also noticed bloodstains on the curtains in the room.

Mthethwa said the police arrested the woman’s live-in boyfriend as the suspect in the murder investigation.

“The boyfriend called the police to the shack that morning,” said Mthethwa.

According to Mthethwa, the boyfriend claimed the woman had returned home intoxicated and went to sleep but never woke up.

Neighbours, however, believe the woman was beaten to death with a hammer.

“We are traumatised by what we have seen. There was so much blood on the curtains and all over the woman’s head and body,” said a resident.

Neighbours said they expected something like this would happen because the couple always fought, especially on weekends.
