Police recover stolen vehicle in Standerton after five years

An investigation of the vehicle, with no registration numbers, was conducted and it was positively identified as the vehicle stolen in Centurion, Pretoria in May 2018.

A crime-intelligence operation in Standerton led to the recovery of a white Toyota Etios, worth about R85 000, that was stolen five years ago.

According to a statement by the provincial commissioner of police, General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, an intelligence unit in Standerton gathered information and got Standerton K9 to conduct an operation.

Their investigation led them to a house in Meyerville, where the suspicious vehicle was spotted.

Upon police arrival, the possible suspect ran away, evading the arrest.

After an investigation of the vehicle, with no registration numbers, it was positively identified as the vehicle stolen in Centurion, Pretoria in May 2018.

The vehicle was confiscated and taken to Standerton SAPS. Police are still searching for the suspect and hope to bring him to book soon.

Lieutenant General Manamela applauded the work done by police and called on the community to alert them of suspected criminal activities.

“The suspect might have evaded arrest for now, but with all resources at our disposal, this suspect will be traced and arrested in no time,” she concluded.
