Accused in the murder of Trichardt woman will now appear in Delmas High Court

Watson will be on trial from October 31 until November 4.

The murder case against Christopher Watson will now be heading to the High Court in Delmas, Mpumalanga.

This came after his brief appearance in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 26.

Watson will be on trial from October 31 until November 4.

He is facing charges of murder, arson and defeating the ends of justice.

Watson is being accused of the brutal murder of Angelique Fourie (27), his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child.

Fourie’s body was found in her home in a Terra Nova Village complex in Trichardt on November 7, 2021.

Her autopsy revealed that she had been stabbed multiple times.

Watson had fled the scene and handed himself over to the Norkem Park Police Station in Kempton Park on November 9, 2021.

His bail application was abandoned in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on November 17, 2021 and he had since been held at Bethal Prison.

Watson’s appearance was the same as the previous time, with a bible in hand and the same buttoned-up navy blue shirt with a cross on the back.

He again made brief contact (hand touch) with his loved ones who were there to support him.

Fourie’s loved ones were also in court wearing shirts which read “Stop GBV against women and children” on the back and “Justice for Angie” in the front.
