Blanket donation keeps children warm

Nebank supports Aid2Kids projects.

eMBALENHLE – Nebank handed over 42 blankets to the Ridge Times’ Aid2Kids projects last week.

This was part of the bank’s foundation that aims at contributing to community upliftment.

The blankets were handed over to children from the Velile Victim Empowerment Centre and Qalakancane Day Care Centre in the Mandela Section on Thursday, 12 June.

The day care centre looks after more than 20 needy children and the victim empowerment centre looks after more than 20 children who have been chased from their homes, especially girls.

The centres are registered with the Department of Social Development and is run by Ms Sylvia Mbanjwa, a rape victim, on a leased stand and in her RDP house.

Total Secunda Debonairs Pizza is also helping the centre by giving the children bread weekly.

Donations of stationery, food, paint, school uniforms and bags, shoes, baby milk and mealie-meal are welcome.

Volunteers interested in serving as board members of the centres can contact the Ridge Times’ office during office hours at 017 634 7728.
